Obituary of Georgette Anne Lamb

Georgette Hoeben, age 54, of Port Charlotte, Florida and formerly of Joliet, Illinois, passed from this life on Saturday, March 16, 2024. She was the daughter of Bernadine and Ronald Gudac. She was born on April 23, 1969 in Hammond, Indiana, and raised in Joliet, Illinois. She attended St Mary Nativity and Holy Family schools, and is a 1988 graduate of Joliet West High School. Georgette always had a warm and inviting smile to offer. She had a natural gift of making friends with people wherever she went. Georgette perked up whenever she heard music, and she loved to dance. She never heard a song she didn’t like. She had an affinity for animals and gossip magazines, and indulged her sweet tooth with soda - without ice!, and candy. She enjoyed a beautiful and cultured life. As a teen, she danced alongside her mother and other Croatian Kolo dancers at the Croatian Culture Club, and was a candy-striper at the hospital. She traveled to France, and volunteered at the animal shelter and Fawcett Hospital. With her devoted husband, Danny, by her side, she sailed all over the Carribean. Georgette met the love of her life, Danny Hoeben, in 2009. Danny and Georgette cherished each other, and he provided unwavering support and care to the end. Georgette will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her memory will be carried on by husband Danny Hoeben, her parents Ronald and Bernadine (Deanie), brothers Thomas Buchar and Dean Gudac, and sister Cynthia (Peter) Ribolzi; Niece Ava Ribolzi, and nephews Griffin and Logan Ribolzi; loyal cousins Valerie (Jacques) Legere, Lisa (Jeff) Cheffer, and Chris (Amy) Thomann. Leona Smedley and Makayla Smedley; Loving cousins Laura (Jerry) Mitok, Jenny (Jason) Briney, Sr Beth Ann Baricivich; Krista Borchers and Danielle Moreman. From Joliet to Port Charlotte, many, many friends, cousins, and relatives grieve Georgette’s passing. Georgette's life journey was marked by numerous medical procedures and surgeries. She retained a courageous spirit, and displayed grace through all of it. And of course, made friends with the hospital caretakers, and was often a favorite patient. Georgette's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, yet her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will endure through the memories she leaves behind. Georgette joins her family in heaven, devoted grandparents Thomas and Anne Buchar, and Valentine and Louise Gudac. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to hospital staff, doctors, and nurses at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and, Tampa General Hospital, Fawcett Hospital. Danny’s parents, Win and Elsa Hoeben, warmly welcomed Georgette by making her a part of their family, and provided their support over the years. Fond memories will be shared Wednesday March 20 at Charlotte Memorial, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road Punta Gorda, Florida 33950 at 10am. A remembrance service and burial will be held in Joliet at a time and date yet to be determined.
